Therapist Long Bio
Throughout life’s joys and sorrows, I stand as a compassionate guide, gently steering individuals through the complex maze of grief, trauma and loss. With a heart softened by my own personal losses, and a resilience strengthened by 25 years of professional experience and training, I offer my services online to be as inclusive as possible. Honouring diversity, inclusion and cultural sensitivities are core values in my work. I provide a haven of healing for those grappling with trauma, relationship breakdowns, health diagnoses, the process of dying, and bereavement following a passing. My clients always say at the end of a session that they feel better having talked with me.
My person and transgenerational journey is a testament to resilience and transformation. As a survivor of Genocide and a child war refugee, I have intimately felt the pain of many types of loss, feeling the ache of friends and family members taken by cancer, bearing the invisible scars of displacement and trauma. These personal circumstances, while harrowing, has enabled me to forge my deep empathy and commitment to supporting others on their grief journey.
With a rich array of qualifications and roles under my belt, including registered psychotherapist, group facilitator, ordained spiritual leader, healthcare chaplain, certified grief educator, certified bereavement care provider, certified coach, and a specialist children & youth work, I bring a wealth of knowledge and insight to my practice. However, it’s not the titles that define me but the genuine care and understanding I extend to each individual, group, and family I work with.
I’ve meticulously crafted the S.T.E.E.R.™ approach, a unique therapeutic-spiritual method born out of my personal experiences and professional training. This approach isn’t confined to the walls of organized religion; it’s a harmonious blend of spiritual practices and therapeutic techniques designed to gently guide you or someone you know through various life stages of loss, helping them discover meaning and renewed purpose amidst their pain. I also provide a space for you to explore in conversation spiritually transformative experiences you may have experienced.
Working with me is not just about navigating through loss; it’s about finding dawn after the night, and discovering hope, particularly if you are in despair and contemplating suicide. Through my guidance, individuals aged 13 and above learn to embrace their grief, acknowledge their pain, and embark on a transformative journey towards healing and self-discovery. My support is not prescriptive; it’s a dialogue, an exchange of giving and receiving, in which I offer suggestions for you consider and implement if you want to so you can feel empowered to explore and express your grief as fully as you want to and need to.
In each session, I bring not just professional expertise but also a human touch, an understanding smile, and a listening heart. I know how to use humour appropriately to make you smile too and to lift your spirits. I understand that grief isn’t linear; it’s a spiral of emotions, and I’m here to support you through each twist and turn, helping you find stability and peaceful acceptance.
Choosing me as your therapist means choosing a partner who walks beside you in your grief journey, holding space for your pain, celebrating your small victories, and gently guiding you towards healing and wholeness. With me, you are not alone; you are supported, understood, and cared for.
If you are seeking a therapist who combines deep professional expertise with genuine empathy and care, look no further. I’m here to support you, offering a beacon of light guiding you through the fog of grief towards a horizon of hope and healing. Let the journey of healing begin, with me as your compassionate guide and supporter.
