Therapist Short Bio
Hello, and a warm welcome.
My name is Edom. I am an Integrative Therapist who has been delivering emotional and therapeutic support to individuals for over 10 years.
I strive to create a safe and supportive environment, free of judgement, where we can gently explore together what is going on for you. We work collaboratively; with my role being to support you in coming to understand and overcome the difficulties you are going through.
Therapist Long Bio
It takes great bravery and determination to reach out to a therapist. There are also a wide range of approaches, which may complicate things and leave you feeling at a bit of a loss as to which is the right approach for you. I work using a range of approaches from different schools of psychotherapy, including Person-centred, Psychodynamic/Psychoanalytic, Existential and Compassion-Focused Theory, as I believe everything depends on the given individual. At the core of my approach is the relationship between the client and therapist.
I see my role as a therapist as one of being a companion to walk beside my clients as they cross bridges to new understandings of themselves and their life meaning. I strive to create a safe and supportive environment, free of judgement, where we can gently explore together what is going on for you. We work collaboratively, with my role being to support you in coming to understand and overcome the difficulties you are going through.
I can help with various issues from abuse, trauma, depression, anxiety, bereavement, low self-esteem, stress, and relationship and family issues, to name a few. Please feel free to contact me to schedule a consultation where we can explore what is going on for you and how I can assist you.
First session
During the initial (first) session, we get the chance to explore what has brought you to therapy and for me to tell you a bit about how I work and decide if we feel we can work together.
At the end of the initial consultation session, a contract for open-ended/ongoing or time-limited (for a set number of sessions agreed upon at the start) therapy will be offered.
You may choose to end our work together whenever you wish whether you are on an open-ended contract or on a time-limited contract. In either case, it is important to plan ahead of time to say goodbye and bring our work to a close, as this is an integral part of the therapeutic process.
