Therapist Short Bio

I work with UK and international clients online and face-to-face in Bude, Cornwall. I have worked as a personal therapist to several Mental health professionals. I have a small group of children I work with focusing on issues around school or family. The LGBTQ+ community seem to find my counselling helpful, and I am experienced in working with gender and sexuality issues. I have a background in education with SEN and Neurodiverse children.

Therapist Long Bio

In 1985, I worked as an educational therapist in a Psychodynamic/person-centred therapeutic community. This opened my eyes to the whole range of therapeutic approaches now bracketed together as Humanistic. This was a time before professional counselling training was formalised.
Since then, I have worked in many roles within the state and alternative education system. Psychological theory has always informed my educational work. In 2016, I decided to withdraw from teaching and focus on building a Counselling Practice.

I work with children and adults ranging from 8 to 100 years old. I am trauma-informed.
I trained as an Integrative Counsellor. This means I draw on all my experience of many different therapeutic approaches I have worked with over the years.

I have a depth of experience in psychodynamic and humanistic approaches. I tailor my approach to your needs.

Practically, this means I can work with you to help you with your immediate mental health concerns and if you wish, we can dig deeper. A relationship difficulty may have roots in childhood relationships with parents and others. You may have unresolved trauma in your history. I have no fixed agenda for how I will work with you other than helping you to uncover your authentic self and live with more freedom. From there, you can begin creating a life you choose.
